Ndokwa East Cries for Help

In line with my commitment for a better Ndokwa Nation as the Secretary General of NNU YOUTH WING and having been elected on the premise of being an Ndokwa Easterner, i today led a team of Vanguard Correspondent to see the deplorable state of roads in Ndokwa East, starting from the Aboh-Umuolo-Akarai-Obodo-Onyia rd.
The road is so bad that during the raining season, you will have to walk as much as 3hrs just to get to some of these communities, as its so bad that even motorcycles can't pass through it. Imgine someone having a medical emergency in any of this community, what then becomes their fate?
These community has agriculture as their economic base, especially plantain but they face a herculean challenge with getting their produce which they normally harvest in large quantity to the market. This road is suppose to link about 5 communities but since its was first mentioned in 2004 nothing has been done on it till date.
I begin to wonder if we truly have representatives at all, as instead of them fighting for the development of Ndokwa east they are locked in a power tussle. Ndokwa. East remains one of the most blessed Local Government in the whole of nigeria both in natural and human resource but alas it still ranks as one of the least developed LGA.
If things continue this way, we the youths of Ndokwa Nation especially those of us from Ndokwa East will soon be forced to take drastic measures to call this supposed leaders to order as the era of their impunity is over. We shall no longer tolerate their radical excesses.
I will round up by making an open appeal to the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led Government to please remember Ndokwa East and give it priority as his developmental stride take off.
I must commend my brother and friend Ogiriki Ifeanyi Danie

lfor volunteering to be our tour guide, Ndokwa East needs more of your type.

Efforts To Reduce Salaries And Allowances Of NASS Members Hits Brick Wall

Efforts To Reduce Salaries And Allowances Of NASS Members Hits Brick Wall
Efforts to reduce the salaries and allowances of members of the National Assembly (NASS) met a brick wall on Wednesday, as lawmakers failed to agree on a proposal to cut their salaries and allowances.

The Senate Adhoc Committee had presented a report which would review the salaries and allowances of lawmakers last week Tuesday, August 4.
After meeting for nearly two hours behind closed doors, the lawmakers decided to step down the debate on the report for further legislative input.
However, addressing journalists after plenary, the Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Sen Dino Melaye said that the Senate in its wisdom decided to stand down further considerations on the report of the Adhoc Committee on the review of the finances of the Senate pending full consultations with all stake holders.
The National Assembly budget for 2015 is pegged at about N150 billion.
This amount is meant to cater for the 469-member National Assembly consisting of 109 senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives, legislative aides, the National Assembly Commission and the Legislative Institute.

NDOKWA NATION; THE CASE OF AN ETHNIC NATIONALITY LAYING THE GOLDEN EGGS BUT WALLOW IN ABJECT POVERTY

Ndokwa Nation is the second largest ethnic Nationality in Delta State and as well produces and houses the largest quantum of gases,

The case of Ndokwa Nation is the case of "monkey dey work, banboo dey chop''.

Ndokwa Nation not withstanding being the second largest  ethnic nationality in the state is the only ethnicity in delta state that does not have a tertiary institution in their territory.

Ndokwa Nation not withstanding generating millions of dollars daily through the Okpai gas plant to the coffers of Federal government remains an abandoned and despicable place where even beholding their sight make a discerning individual to weep.

Ndokwa Nation not withstanding generating thousands of Megawatt to Federal power lines but yet the relevant authorities have refused to step down Okpai gas plant.

The main responsibility of any government is to provide basic amenities for the governed but lo and behold vast majority of Ndokwa communities does not have clean drinking water.

Even those that have drinking water no longer drink it cos its unsafe due to activities of oil and gas exploration in Ndokwa land.

At this junction, its imperative that Ndokwa Nation should be considered for citing of tertiary institution and a development plan of Ndokwa Nation prioritized.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF GAS FLARING

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF GAS FLARING

1 CLIMATE CHANGE : Gas flaring contributes to climate change,
which has serious implications for both Nigeria and the rest of the world.
The burning of fossil fuel, mainly coal, oil and gas-greenhouse gases-has led to warming up the world and is projected to get much, much worse during the course of the 21st
century according to the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC).
Gas flaring contributes to climate change by emission of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas. Venting of the gas without burning, a practice for which flaring seems often to be treated as a synononym, releases methane, the second main greenhouse gas. Together and crudely, these gases make up about 80% of global warming to date.

2 ACID RAIN : Acid rains have been linked to the activities of gas flaring.
Corrugated roofs in the Delta region have been corroded by the composition of the rain that falls as a result of flaring. The primary causes of acid rain are emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NO) which combine with atmospheric moisture to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid respectively. Size and environmental philosophy in the industry have very strong positive impact on the gas-flaring-related CO2 emission
Acid rain acidifies lakes and streams and damages vegetation. In addition, acid rain accelerates the decay of building materials and paints. Prior to falling to the earth, SO2 and NO2 gases and their particulate matter derivatives, sulfates and nitrates, contribute to visibility degradation and harm public health.

3 AGRICULTURE : The flares associated with gas flaring give rise to atmospheric contaminants. These include oxides of Nitrogen, Carbon and Sulphur (NO2, CO2, CO, SO2), particulate matter, hydrocarbons and ash, photochemical oxidants, and hydrogen sulphide (H2S).
These contaminants acidify the soil, hence depleting soil nutrient.
Studies have shown that the nutritional value of crops within such vicinity are reduced.
In some cases, there is no vegetation in the areas surrounding the flare due partly to the tremendous heat that is produced and acid nature of soil pH.
The effects of the changes in temperature on crops included stunted growth, scotched plants and such other effects as withered young crops.
Reference concluded that the soils of the study area are fast losing their fertility and capacity for sustainable agriculture due to the acidification of the soils by the various pollutants associated with gas flaring in the area.
With the above, its therefore imperative that gas flaring should be stopped so that the gas can be processed and produced into
cooking/domestic gas and used for generation of power for gas producing areas.

Nigerians Arise

Nigeria is not Nigeria unless you and i are Nigerians.............................

The primary purpose purpose of government is to provide basic social amenities for the governed but today reverse is the case.

Its the case of providing basic social amenities for the government class and associates which only represent less than 2% of the total Nigeria population.

However, an agency does not become an institution by its mere virtue of its creation or establishment but with you and i demanding for such agencies to discharge their duties adequately and fairly without fear or favour.

On this note, its therefore imperative that we Nigerian should rise up to expose the level of infrastructural decay across all sectors in our immediate environment and as well call for the immediate intervention of the relevant agencies.

Nigerians, its time to rise up to salvage our father land from total decay social evils..............

Lets join hands and build our dream country cos with togetherness we can make it..................

Let us be the change we want.............................................

The time of talking is far behind, lets walk the talk................................................................
